A NEW BANJO-KAZOOIE GAME IS COMING, INSIDER CLAIMS
28 Dec, 2023
There has been a growing speculation among enthusiasts that the beloved Banjo-Kazooie series may receive a new chapter. Such excitement was fanned by insights from a reputable industry insider, known as NateDrake, who shared on the ResetEra forums that active development for a new Banjo-Kazooie title is underway under Microsoft's wing. With details scarce, NateDrake mentioned only that the project secured its official go-ahead "last year" and remains a work in progress, emphasizing that development paths are often winding and can see concepts discarded or projects overhauled entirely.
The assertions from NateDrake remain to be independently corroborated by Insider Gaming or any other outlet. Yet, the insider's past predictions, including the announcement of the new project by Arkane Lyon revealed at The Game Awards and the arrival of a new F-Zero installment, lend credibility to their claims regarding Banjo-Kazooie.
Adding credibility to these rumors, Xbox head Phil Spencer recently acknowledged the desires of Banjo-Kazooie aficionados during a conversation with Windows Central. Spencer reflected on the company's approach to revisiting established series, noting that they're open to reviving past narratives and characters when the right creative team and opportunity present themselves. He directly addressed the Banjo-Kazooie community, recognizing their longstanding hopes for the franchise's return.
The last major console installment for Banjo-Kazooie was back in 2000 with Banjo-Tooie, followed by minor handheld releases: 'Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge' and 'Banjo-Pilot' on Game Boy Advance. More recently in 2008, the franchise saw the launch of 'Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts', which many fans classify as a side-step from the core series due to its alternate gameplay focus.
Fans of the bear-and-bird duo are now, more than ever, optimistic that a faithful continuation of the platforming adventure series is within the horizon.
