13 Dec, 2024
The latest update for Cyberpunk 2077 has unveiled an array of thrilling new materials for players, featuring a hidden quest linked to a popular indie game. The recent patch has not only enhanced the photo mode but also integrated a unique crossover experience into the gameplay.
The new quest emerges from a collaboration with LocalThunk's beloved poker-themed roguelike deckbuilder, Balatro, which previously saw the introduction of themed card packs in Cyberpunk 2077 back in October. Players should be mindful that there are upcoming spoilers regarding the game.
In this engaging quest, players will encounter 'Jim B,' who reaches out to V with a request to hunt down rogue Jokers distributed throughout the vibrant Night City. To assist V in this treasure hunt, Jim B provides images that cleverly direct players to their targets, accompanied by witty card-related puns. Players can identify the correct locations by spotting graffiti of a joker on nearby surfaces. Overall, this quest offers a delightful combination of collecting and exploring, all inspired by Balatro.
After finishing the challenge, participants will receive their rewards with the Joker of Night City package, featuring a stylish new joker shirt and a Balatro trophy for display in their apartment. Spoiler warnings have concluded here!
Radek Grabowski, serving as the Global Public Relations Director at CD Projekt, shared insights regarding the inception of this cross-promotion. He had suggested the idea of incorporating Balatro cards into Cyberpunk 2077 to the quest design team, which led to Maria Mazur crafting this special quest for Patch 2.2. Mazur expressed her enthusiasm, stating that creating a tribute to Balatro within Night City was a personal endeavor for her.
She mentioned the rewarding nature of bringing together resources to provide players with unique discoveries, which deeply resonates with her passion for gaming. Mazur was thrilled to introduce Jim B to the universe of Cyberpunk 2077 and hopes that players will appreciate the little adventure awaiting them.
This hidden quest is among numerous secrets that game director Paweł Sasko hinted at being included in Patch 2.2. Remarkably, even after four years since the original launch, players continue to uncover secrets from the game’s core story. In addition, the community is actively documenting the various undisclosed updates from Patch 2.2, which also features a street race and fresh color options for weapons.
