EMEA League of Legends 2025 Season: A New Era with Expanded Masters Competitions

As the realm of esports keeps evolving, thrive, fans are eager for updates on the upcoming tournaments. Notably, Riot Games has unveiled an exciting plan for the 2025 season, particularly regarding the EMEA League of Legends competitions, which promise to deliver thrilling action.

Riot Games has announced that the 2025 season will see the launch of three EMEA Masters competitions, each coinciding with the broader Winter, Spring, and Summer seasons. These events are designed to increase in scale and intensity throughout the year. The Winter EMEA Masters will begin with 16 teams, followed by the Spring EMEA Masters featuring 32 teams, and culminating in the Summer EMEA Masters with the participation of 44 teams.

In the Winter competitions, the initial stage will encompass group matches, leading to playoffs where every European Regional League (ERL) will select teams for the EMEA Masters. Specifically, the Winter EMEA Masters will feature invitations extended to the top seed from each ERL, alongside invites for the second seed from the top three performing ERLs.

The Spring Split follows a similar structure but increases the number of participating teams and playoff opportunities. During the Spring EMEA Masters, the six most competitive ERLs will be allowed to submit up to three teams based on their past achievements, while the less dominant ERLs will receive two invitations.

Finally, the Summer Split will kick off with a Last Chance Qualifier, paving the way for a Swiss Stage leading into playoffs. With a broad offering of 44 spots for the Summer EMEA Masters, the majority of ERLs can expect to receive three invites, with the top-performing ERLs earning an additional fourth invitation.

For context, there are 13 ERLs active this year, including notable leagues such as the UK and the Northern League of Legends Championship for the Nordics, Spain's Superliga, France's La Ligue Française, and Germany, Austria, and Switzerland's Prime League among others.
